"I love Adairs new Riviera collection for its rich textures and soft pastels. The aim for this bedroom makeover was to create a relaxing, luxurious bedroom which can be easily replicated in your home.  It’s all about creating a space where you can feel totally relaxed and calm.

To begin the makeover I selected the quilt cover and worked back from there.  The soft blues with a hint of mustard within the Home Republic Una quilt cover created the perfect backdrop for adding pastels, greys and whites.  The Artwork was added later to ensure it tied in with the quilt cover. The throw was the finishing touch to bring the whole colour palette together.

Guidelines to Bedroom Styling

Add layers! Start with you quilt cover and pillows and build from there.  Add extra pillows, cushions and throws to create a bed that you just want to dive into. I selected cushions that would tie in with the colours featured on the Una bedlinen.  Choosing similar tones and hues from the same colour palette as the quilt cover will make styling a bed easier for everyone.  I also chose cushions with different fabrics and textures to create a sense of coziness. I like to work in 3’s and 5’s - an odd number of cushions always works best.   Throw rugs are always a must when styling your bed, they complete a look and are so versatile in trans-seasonal weather. A Throw can be the perfect layer on those warmer nights when a quilt cover filled with a feather doona is just too hot.  I also love to add that extra layer of texture and luxury to the bed.

Lastly, think soft lighting for your space and bedside reading. This is a definite must, along with having enough space on the bedside table for your coffee and favourite book.

Just a few extra hints to take away with you:

Faux plants are just getting better and better, sometimes I have to do a double take to realise its faux. I love the no maintenance appeal of faux plants. They look great in any part of your house and as long as they look authentic you really can’t go wrong

Wall art really does finish off a room.  When choosing wall art, make sure it compliments your room and you are using colours that match in with your styling.  For example choose art work that works in with your cushions, throws and quilt."
