Sleep temperature is lowest at 3am.

Did you know: most people reduce their body temperature during sleep with the lowest point being around 3am?

Your body needs to be able to lose heat at this stage, so if you find yourself tossing and turning during the night, it may be because you are too warm. The ideal bedroom temperature for sleeping is disputed, but anywhere between 15-19 degrees is a good start. If the temperature in the bedroom is higher than this it can limit the ability of heat to escape from your head. The result will likely be disturbed sleep as you toss and turn, which is your body’s attempt to cool down. So turn down the central heating at night, and consider sleeping under a heat regulating quilt or blanket, such as wool, cotton or Tencel®.
