Australia is in the top 10 of world cotton producers?

Did you know: Australia is in the top 10 of world cotton producers?

There are about 1,500 cotton farms in Australia, approximately half of those in Queensland and half in New South Wales – most of them family-run. Australia’s cotton growers are known for producing the world’s highest cotton yields, at two and a half times the global average – a success attributed to plant breeding and better water management. Aussie cotton farmers had a record-breaking year in 2011/2012, planting more than 583,000 hectares and producing a whopping 5 million bales!
